Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing experience I have used turbo Tax for at least 14 years and this is the first year I was disappointed in the quality of the product. I bought the Deluxe version and when I got to the investment section it recommended I upgrade to Premier. When I attempted the upgrade I was not able to log in to my account as it said my password was incorrect. It would not allow me to change my password for some reason and I was at a standstill preparing my return as I could not proceed in Deluxe and I could not upgrade to Premier. So.... I went back to the store and purchased a copy of Premier and just admitted I'd have to eat the cost of Deluxe. When I downloaded and installed Premier I asked it to replace the existing version of Deluxe BUT every time I logged into Turbo Tax it automatically defaulted to Deluxe. While Turbo Tax representatives (2 of them) were very nice and very patient with me they were not able to resolve any of my problems. Couldn't help me purchase an upgrade to Premier. Couldn't understand why I couldn't log in with existing password and couldn't understand why it wouldn't let me change my password. Couldn't help me successfully load and log in to Premier, eventually suggested it must be an Apple computer problem and referred me to them. After several days wrestling with these problems I finally started over and tediously input everything by hand into the Deluxe version and was able to complete the federal and state returns. When I attempted to transmit the returns I repeatedly got error messages that they couldn't verify my return even after running all the return reviews and being assured everything was fine. It suggested I file by mail. I checked for updates and found there were numerous updates even though the initial check when I installed the program I was assured my version was completely up to date. Does the software not check for updates every time you start it up???? It should. I now think my returns have been filed electronically . I still have no idea where the version of Premier I purchased is lurking on my system and I still unable to log in to turbotax.com so I had to conduct all my payment transactions as a GUEST. Do better folks... your software used to be bullet proof and easy to use for the general public.
