Rated 3 out of 5 by from Losing the Love I have used TurboTax for years but am becoming less enamored as time goes by. This year I used the program for (1) myself and (2) an elderly friend so here are my concerns: (1) Downloading investment information from my brokerage was not as seamless as it should have been. Then, when the program had me go back to verify information, it was difficult to tell which account (mine or my spouse's) I was supposed to be verifying. I am annoyed at the constant upselling: to upgrade within TurboTax and to get locked into Credit Karma, and then a fee to get my refund. In the past, I was able to do my taxes as well as my elderly friend's by paying for one program. Now I have to buy two. (2) When I was preparing my friend's return I discovered a 1099-R after I had filed. When I used TurboTax to file an amended return and add that 1099, which was a lump sum payment, the TurboTax software added that as a lump sum payment to her Social Security 1099. I was unable to resolve the issue on my own so I called tech support. The agent was pleasant and helpful, however the software that allows screen sharing would not work and together we could not reverse the incorrect lump sum payment which was asking for the date of the payment. Ultimately I just gave up and added a random date which allowed me to complete the process. In summary, my experience this year was inferior to the many times I have enjoyed using TurboTax in the past. Were it not for the fact that so much information is saved which eliminates reentering it, I would be comparison shopping.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DISAPPOINTED i PURCHASED TURBO TAX FROM BJ'S FOR $69. aFTER STARTING THE PROGRAM ON LINE IT WOULDNT LET ME SIGNIN SO i HAD TO USE THE DOWNLOAD. IT TOLD ME I WAS GETTING A $10 CREDIT WHICH IT NEVER GAVE ME PLUS CHARGED ME $59 TO FILE nys AND THEN 0VER 109 FOR FEDERAL. WHAT ABOUT THE MONEY I SPENT TO BUIY THE PROGRAM. i COULD HAVE GONE TO MY ACCOUNTANT FOR 175 TOTAL INSTEAD OF PAYING WELL OVER 200 IN THE END. THANKS FOR CAUSING ME THAT MUCH MONEY. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT EVER AGAIN.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used forever, will continue to use! I've never filed my taxes with any other company besides TurboTax and I don't plan to switch! I did give four stars though because they've begun throwing in fees that weren't there before, and if it continues, I may need to take my business elsewhere. I liked how they allowed you to get ALL of your money back, unlike the other places that charge you an arm and a leg for a tax return that wasn't going to cover much anyway. However, with these new fees, it seems they're on their way to becoming just like the rest of them. All in all, good to use now; let's hope it stays this way. Everybody always gets money hungry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax is the best Turbo Tax is the best online tool for filing personal taxes. This is my third year with Turbo Tax after comparing it to two other online tax prep tools (all are free to try, just pay to file). Turbo Tax excelled in downloading required W-2 and 1099 forms as well as finding the most deductions like the state sales tax calculator.
