Rated 5 out of 5 by lesoconee Easy to do Overall this year's turbotax was much better than previous versions, not that they were bad. March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by GregDeSelle29 Great Product I used Turbotax last season for the first time and I loved it. I will continue to use Turbotax for the forseeable future until something better comes along which is highly doubtful. I love this program. Best way to file both returns by far. March 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by millenia929 I Have A Headache!! Just a bit of background first please. I am doing my father's taxes. Tried to e-file twice. Rejected both times. According to the IRS code, DOB or DOD not entered. DOB is. TT implies DOB not correct. It is. Called IRS and they can't check or fix my father's information. Cannot e-file the Fed return...period. CA return accepted by the way, so I'm assuming glitch is with IRS. However, please read on. Because of logistics, will not be able to have my father and his wife sign their return until after April 15. So, I went back into the TT program to fill out how to print up an extension-to-file. When I did, the amount shown in the Fed Tax Owed box at the top of the page went to $0.00. Went back, doubled checked, and all the figures are still there, but for some reason it shows he owes no taxes. He does. Maybe an option (link) to file an extension can be provided immediately when a return is rejected. Because, for me at least, it really screwed things up when I followed the directions from TT Help about where to find and print up the extension Form 4868. Unless of course, TT is like the IRS. As the IRS person told me..."You're thinking too simplistically. The system is way too complicated to go in and fix things." I have been using TT for many, many years and truthfully, this is the first time I've had a problem. Again, it appears to be a problem with the IRS that prohibits me from e-filing. But certainly, it's a TT glitch that causes the tax owed box to reset to $0 when going back to print up a single form, after I had already completed the return, printed a copy, and tried to e-file. Rated 5 out of 5 by Sherrirrt Love Turbo Tax After using Turbo Tax for the last 4 years in a row, I am very happy. They save my information from year to year and preparation is a snap. I like the leading questions to see if I qualify for anything more. Every year Turbo Tax seems to get more streamlined and easier to use. March 5, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by CC951 Disappointed I have used TurboTax for many years. I have never had a problem with the software until this year. The program would not save my changes and repeatedly crashed. I had to complete each return over again every time. March 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by EugeneDenise Usually very good but really let me down this year I do taxes for my girlfriend and her parents. She is a student and has been claimed on her parents' tax return for years. I have never had a problem with it - until this year. I entered all her info, checking the box that says she will be claimed on someone else's tax return. Finished hers and E-filed her federal return. Then I entered her parent's info - got to the deductions and found out she can't be claimed on their return!! Simple issue that would prevent her from being claimed on anyone's return - she made too much money. The cap is now $3900, which is either new or lower than last year because she made more than this amount and was eligible to be claimed on their return. A simple warning of this fact would have saved me many hours of work! PLUS, after redoing her return and then doing an AMENDED return for fed, I found that I could not E-file it. Grrr - this was so frustrating. The bulk of her return is now tied up in an Amended return which will add time I am sure, to the processing of it by the IRS. SO EASY - just have a pop up tell me that she can't be claimed on someone else's return! I think I will research tax programs for 2014. This is inexcusable. March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by JustTickled TurboTax 2013 I use it every year, because you don't have to be real smart. It does all the work for you. It's so easy a 5th grader could have prepared my taxes....honest. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by davidterry83 Overall very good. Pricey Just be more upfront with all the costs. Everything else was great. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Shelttie My income increased during the year and I wasn't aware that I was under my quarterly estimate. Some how you should have a quarterly review to prevent this March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Sundaram81 Happy overall I was happy overall with the experience i got using Turbo Tax. Only area of improvement i can suggest - I did not have form 1099SA but it was not clear if i have to ask for deduction on my HSA account or was it already taken out of my W2. The instruction needs some update that is more clear for user. March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by DG416 Fast & Easy When an abbreviation is needed for a state as in locations for Charitable donations you have to know the 2 letter symbol for the state. You should have a pick and chose column. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by RPP1972 Great product. one glitch. TurboTax is great, but it charged me for the efile of two states before it did a final check. After the final check, it informed me that I could not efile in one of the states. Please fix this. I chatted online with one of TT's reps, and she processed a refund, so no continuing issue. Rated 5 out of 5 by Westmz Turbotax 2013 Deluxe Best yet, especially in working with military families living outside their state of residence. Have used TurboTax since it came out. It has it is great, regardless of version. March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by msjdrink Great Great product & user friendly... March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Leoa E-file limitations There is no explanation in the Deluxe TurboTax software on how many times one can submit tax return electronically. I suppose that even if the IRS rejects a submittal it is considered a submittal and count against the number of times an e-file can be used. Bummer. March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by terness Turbo Tax- Income tax preparation and submission a great help and they will direct you thru the process.. Just give the correct , and honest data and the result is amazing March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by SatisfiedAnnie Extremely helpful staff member I entered all my information which included long term capital gains. Not understanding the tax consequences of long term gains, I didn't believe my tax was figured correctly. Too low!! After calling I was answered quickly by Michelle who linked me to the capital gains worksheet (through the IRS so I would believe it). She was patient, kind and very helpful. I would recommend TurboTax to anyone who is willing to work on their own taxes. Wish I had started using this years ago. March 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by 999htt OK Even if the state e-file had been included I probably would not have used it. Entered that we were filing a joint return but turbotax put some of the info in separate forms. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ramiacct I owe how much? Never did ask me about tolls, car repairs and such. March 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Chacolot Tax Season Is A Little Easier There is room for improvement. Some questions are a little vague; example, "Is your vehicle considered Stimulus Package Property?" On several occasions I found nothing in Turbo Tax HELP that applied to me. However, Turbo Tax is much easier the doing it by hand. March 5, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by ChefFlambe Disappointed I've been a Turbo Tax/Mac customer for many years. This year was a low in the software. After it loaded it declared that an update was necessary. The update would "load" and it would forget where the current file was. Each time I'd open the application, I'd get the same "gotta update" message. Each update would wipe the state income tax files, and I had to d/l them again. I used the TT site to find the fix, offered by another sufferer. Even with the fix, when I went to file I got an intercept that said an update needed to be done before filing, except the updater didn't have anything to update. I walked away from the computer. The next day I again went through the filing process and it worked. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Baldhdfatguy I received an error message when trying to e-file. Went on line and found several complaints about the same issue. After shutting down my iMac I was going back through the process of e-filing when low and behold I discovered that I had mistyped my account info for my bank. Once I corrected this error it e-filed without a hitch. I am very happy since this has been the only tax preparation software that I have used over the last 10 years. When switching from PC to Mac I didn't save my past tax info on this new machine so I started from scratch inputing all our personal data. Not a problem. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by abrentc Eeked by I have always trusted and used Turbo Tax, at least for the last decade, however charitable deductions were unclear and did not yield any value on my return in my perception. I will presume new tax laws are to blame however it does put a damper on next years charitable contributions as they appear to have no deductable value. The penalty for filing as a proudly married couple of 35 years is also an issue as I watch my refund ticker go from green to red when my spouses w-2 information is added. thanks March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by misshowcome We have successfully used Turbo Tax for several years and found it easy to follow and complete. March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by DK1920 Excellence Easy and fast. Have used Turbo-Tax for the several years and have found it easier each year. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by MLS13 You handling of Canadian RRSP and distributions from them are much improved but not to the point of being easy. It would also be nice if you developed a currency conversion application to assist with foreign earnings. Overall. The product is worth every penny spent in time saved. Especially calculating foreign tax credits and maintaining records of carry overs. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Shelttie Missed my projections of 2013 income and had to pay taxes even tho i paid estimated taxes quarterly. Somehow we should be able to review the est. Taxes on a quarterly to make sure we are on the right track and not get surprised at the end. I think this is the most user friendly i have used. Keep it up and I will continue to use you. March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by MIShar I was very disappointed that I had to pay for Turbo tax and then pay for the state download and efile. In the past I have paid for the efile but never the download March 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by ultrarunner Mostly great! The only drawback was that turbo tax did not alert me to a long term health care premium credit that I had used in 2012 on my Oregon form. I almost missed it because it's under "other" credits. March 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A63Nona 2014 Taxes I have been using TurboTax since 2008? and use it every year. The ease of use and convenience is unequaled to any other tax software. The only downside is that there is no way to recover a past password; I had to create a new account, no big deal but I would rather use the same account each year. March 5, 2014
