Rated 5 out of 5 by MNNukeman Questions are asked in general terms, and if more details are needed, on-screen or on-line help is available. Auto-import from prior year's taxes makes for a quick start! April 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Jlnnsmth Turbotax 2013 This year I was very disappointed in my Turbotax experience, when it came to filing the taxes. A software glitch (I have a MAC, not a PC) would not allow my taxes to be transmitted. A message kept coming up, saying that updates were available. I would download them, then try to re-transmit. Repeatedly, it failed to transmit them, with a message telling me that I needed to 1-download the updates & 2- file them by snail mail. There is no excuse for Turbo-tax to not have the MAC thing right by now. Very frustrating. April 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by ctbrunner Rejected with no good explanation Got a rejected return and the explanation of the error doesn't fit. Went back to return and analysis says all is good. Now my return is late. What is going on? April 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Reay OK, but some problems I have used TT for years. However, this year I discovered that I had twice downloaded the same set of 1099 forms from my financial institution. Unfortunetly they do not identify the accounts within the information they download. I had to step thru each one and ID which one it was based on the amounts in the fields. Because of this, it took several hours longer. Second problem: In the extension form, it is somewhat confusing to ID how much I am sending, and how much I still owe. I had to read thru the form several times in order to get it right. Additionally there is no easy way to find the location of the amounts in the form that are not correct. April 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by OldDavid filed late after many lost hours trying Turbotax I really struggled with Turbo tax for two years in a row. I had problems removing a state input, when I accidentally loaded a state that was needed for my daughter's return, but wasn't needed for my return. I also struggled to download a state. There may be something that is incompatible between Turbo tax and my computer because I don't have problems downloading data for other programs. I couldn't efile on time because TurboTax detected an update was needed. Then TurboTax went into an infinite loop trying to do what was supposed to be a 1 minute update. I tried several times, then had to file for an extension manually. Unfortunately, the post offices in Mississippi were all closed by 11 p.m. on the 15th, so I ended filing my requests for extension late. I am very disappointed with TurboTax and will be comparing other tax programs to see which one I will be using next year. April 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Magic123 Not Happy After more than 10 years of using TurboTax, I struggled this year to get the returns to print. Having no straight print button that avoids a PDF file or Adobe Acrobat is one of the worst design issues I have seen on any widely used software in a long time. What if Microsoft decided on the latest Windows that you had to go to a PDF to get Word to print. TurboTax has little in the way of competition and its a good thing or I would be gone for good. Rated 5 out of 5 by DfromMV Easy Peasy I have been using Turbo Tax for the past 15 years. Straight forward, easy to use and understand. Make sure you get the version appropriate to your situation... (if you sold stock, get the version that covers investments, etc.). April 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brownsugar0001 Turbo Tax have always been my favorite tax app. I feel everyone should do their taxes with Turbo Tax you will not go wrong and they offer help if you ever need it. April 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sarah360 I feel like a genius! I just went through a divorce last year and this was my first year filing as a divorced person following our decree. I was a little concerned I would have to pay someone to do my taxes for me as I did last year when I was separated, but I decided to try it myself with turbo tax and I am so glad that I did. I saved myself the $300 I would have had to pay someone else to do what I could for myself. I feel like a GENIUS! Thanks Sarah April 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Max147465 Missing important steps for deductions You do not allow for a deduction for "income in respect of a decedent." I wasted an entire day chasing down how to handle this on turbotax, even spending an incremental ~160 for the turbotax software. Could have done my taxes on my own in this time and for hundreds less. Rated 4 out of 5 by Jack1137 Always room for improvement I have used TurboTax for years, moving from the stand, to deluxe, to premier as my needs evolved. I have never been audited, but also I have never been notified of an error caused by TurboTax. One negative I encountered this year was that TurboTax performed a final round of edits while I was within the eFile steps. It found an error in my state return that I needed to correct, but I was no longer within the normal flow of the program. I made the correction without being able to evaluate the impact of the changes I was making. TurboTax performs several error runs at various stages of preparation. No edits should be left to the moment of filing. April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Procrastenator Flexible & Thorough A long time user of Turbo Tax and its complete history from year to year is intuitive and a strong asset when complicated depreciation and passive activity tracking is needed. Still looking for more guidance/confidence when applying adjustments for Alt. Minimum Tax (seems to grabbing more folks each year). April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Grimesgang TurboTax got us through three years of back taxes Overall, TurboTax has continued to improve the product and make it easier to use and more plain to follow. I noticed a couple areas of confusion, though. First, with the American Opportunity credit, the "Help" feature stated that the "4 years" of eligibility meant until a Bachelor's degree equivalent was reached. However, the software and the forms broke off eligibility at four physical tax years. This should be clarified. Second, when entering the 1099-B information for Capital Gains, the terminology for the "A" and "B" boxes (Covered or non-covered security, and Basis reported or not reported to the IRS) appeared to be backward. It was the opposite of the terminology on my 1099-B. Also, the download feature for 1099-B information from different institutions is woefully short on which institutions are included. Overall, TurboTax continues to be an excellent product and is improved each year. I will continue to use it annually. April 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by 1am32k111 Premier Turbo was not able to adequately calculate my State taxes even with technical support. Waste of money to buy the Premier with State addition and then have to pay for State filing separately. April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by pmuhly Thoughts on Turbo Tax I find the program very easy to navigate. One can simply let Turbo Tax take you through all the things it thinks you should consider or select on your own the things you want to address. Going back and forth this way makes doing my taxes very easy. I also like the ability to add supporting statements wherever necessary. This makes accounting very easy. The supporting statements can be easily edited, added to, or reconfigured. That's a real plus. The con is that it is not available for Linux. There is no good reason for this. April 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by hr333 in backtracking, the program usually takes me too far back.. years ago, I could select a specific form to go back to; now the program has been "dumbed down" to the lowest common denominator--feels like a Fox news broadcast. April 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by hjet PIN or AGI Number We placed a "0" zero in the PIN number instead of the AGI and we cannot correct this error. Our e-file was rejected twice now. April 20, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by filingnotcheap Some items not available, made it harder I was not able to file my extension electronically on 4/15/14. Will know better next time, but the competitive product allows this even @ 11:59 on 4/15. Also, when I printed the extension to mail, there was a shadow mark stating, 'DO NOT FILE'. I could not access a clean extension form. However, at the end of the interview, it stated I had filed a return with payment. (?????) April 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Katrina2014 Convenient Appreciate Turbo every year I file. don't like to go through IRS forms, Turbo is a more clear alternative. April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by schnetz If there is a way to digitally send the 1040-V Payment Voucher Form that would be great. April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Milehigh47 Good program but has a few flaws I would love to see this or maybe a special program for the military and retirees, we have special needs and I would love to see something more towards the military, guard, reserve, and military retiree's April 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Aldridge Love Turbotax We've been using TT for over 10 years and every year we learn better ways to keep records. Every year we are impressed with our return and we are so happy to not be blindly trusting someone with our hard-earned money. I have no doubt we get the maximum deduction every year!! April 20, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by LastMinHelp Some Flaws I am using Turbo-Tax since 2005 and some minor issues I would rate the Software Excellent!! A++++++(10) I would like to recommend Turbox-Tax to improve on developing still more easier format. Please publish list a Error Codes when Tax Return is rejected. Please!! Please, Publish How to reach Live Customer Service support Link on the top page so one does not have to struggle to find the phone number to reach Turbox-Tax incase there is a last minute Software Gliche. Rated 4 out of 5 by masomenos good job good over all - need to offer explanation of why some expenses (rental loss) has a max amount allowed. April 20, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by GRANDN Don't know why I used TurboTax since 1993 Having lived in a foreign country, TurboTax always gave me headaches on the handling of foreign tax credits. I used to prorate my entries because of foreign income exclusions, but somewhere along the way TT started to prorate as if I had not prorated and thus causing double proration and thus inaccurate foreign tax credit in favor of the IRS. More recently TT has failed to keep track of multiple e-filings because of IRS rejections, thus the electronic post mark associated with the last rejection, made it look like the return was not filed by its deadline April 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Marcus1974 Watch out for State Fees to file The only real annoyance is the filing fees for a state return, and having to go to "another" site to complete the transaction. Quite a premium, all things considered. I mostly like Turbo Tax as it allows importation of previous years, and does keep track of taxable transactions that might slip through my memory. Frankly, I wonder about these tax programs and how they work with regards to the Q&A format. I used to get the IRS forms and instructions, just to keep track of what Turbo Tax is doing. I gave up on this when it was hard to locate the forms and instructions locally. Overall, I will continue to use Turbo Tax, and accept the annoyances. April 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by AJinRichmondVA The Joy Continues About 20+ years ago, I worked for H&R Block one year- the software they were using was terrible and completely put me off any tax software. Ten years ago I had a complex return because I was laid off and had to exercise some stock options and had a couple of capital gains. I was going crazy trying to understand all the instructions and finally decided to try TurboTax. I was impressed as it quickly cleared up my problems and made a very difficult return a piece of cake. I have been back every year since and now have the automatic purchase feature set up. It is not perfect, but it is way better than doing it by hand. April 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by LarryHSr Using 2013 TurboTax I tried to enter my IP PIN and it only accepted 5 digits. Therefore I enter my assigned PIN. The next day I got a reject notice. Today I tried again and since I could not enter my IP PIN I choose Option 2, AGI. April 20, 2014
