Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but needs improvement Overall, TurboTax works well. For simple returns, I would rate it excellent. But for me, the investment portion fell short in several areas: 1) "Get ready to be impressed!" portion aiming to import 1099s did not work at all. I tried uploading PDF documents, uploading snapshots and downloading from internet web accounts. What it gave me were untitled and incomplete things that left me scratching my head. I had to delete every one and manually enter all my 1099s. 2) Entering foreign income from stocks and mutual funds was a headache. What I would like to see is for TurboTax to get the details as soon as I enter line 7 of a 1099-DIV. Instead, it waited until a different credits section, which ended up confusing. At the end review, it wanted me to put one foreign fund's income on schedule B rather than Form 1116 and would not let me fix it without going back to the original entry (which took 30 minutes to find). 3) "Go back to where I left off" often took me back to sections that I had already completed, forcing me to re-enter things over again. It took me 11+ hours to do my return. I honestly think it should have taken 6 at the most. Last year it took me 8+ hours to do my return with TurboTax. My documents were of the same complexity, so TurboTax did a worse job this year (of note, importing 1099s last year worked for some accounts, whereas it didn't work at all this year). Being able to upload 1099s from my computer would have saved me a tremendous amount of time had it worked. I look forward to when TurboTax can fix that feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A negative Rating I have been using Turbo Tax for several years now. My filing today was the worst ever. My computer crashed last year and I am using a new computer to file my 2022 taxes. I had to start from scratch. I was unable to retrieve my 2021 info from Turbo Tax / Tax Home / Your Tax Return & Document! I tried several times but had no luck. How can you retrieve prior filings after a computer crash.
