Rated 2 out of 5 by from Federal is good, Virginia state is terrible Federal is well developed. Virginia state does not maximize returns. It's does not calculate the Spouse Tax Adjustment (STA) to maximize savings. It just auto fills based on 1099s. STA is meant to allocate shared income to lower earning spouse for best savings. For example, if 1099-DIV has two names, it just splits the shared income as 50/50 when, in my case, it best to put to me as I'm the lower income earner.
