Rated 2 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax Gets More Expensive Every Year! I started using Turbo Tax because a friend recommended it to me and it was free. It was great for a couple years, but as I started doing independent contractor work, it got more and more expensive. Basically, I was forced to use their $50 - $60 "products" for state and federal because of my independent contractor work. So not only do I have to pay my taxes, but I also have to pay Turbo Tax $100+ for their services and it takes me twice as long to do my taxes. Great for those who only have one job with a simple W-2, but those of us who have freelance/independent contractor work, it's a nightmare.
