Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some problems this year. This is the first time I've ever given Turbotax a somewhat negative review. Three main issues: 1) Turbotax kept asking me to review a non-existent W2 for an employer I haven't worked for since 2019. It wouldn't let me go on, even though at the beginning I made it clear that I was no longer employed by this entity. (I even checked with my old employer to make sure they hadn't accidentally issued me a W2. They hadn't.) 2) There was no way I could find to do a double check to see that Turbotax had caught a new and substantial credit available to me in my state. Some online chatter a couple of months ago said Turbotax wasn't recognizing it. But I couldn't verify. I just had to take Turbotax's word that they know everything. As a result I decided not to file my state taxes with Turbotax and did it myself, which was cheaper and almost as easy. 3) Turbotax make it almost impossible to change your mind. They say they won't charge you till the very end, but just try to find where you pull out of your state taxes once the process has begun. I probably wasted another half hour looking for that. There was no real help available. They say I had access to qualified expert advice; that seems to have meant I could read their online help tips which of course were not at all responsive to these unique questions. I can't say they aren't true to their word. I'm sure whoever writes the tax tips are qualified experts, but it's a deceptive lead-in to get you to buy the product. And everyone knows the trick of making it hard to back out once you've started down a certain road.Overall I was pretty unhappy about the whole thing this year. (And despite what Turbotax records say, I've been using it for years, just not for a couple of years when I was living abroad.) I will have to look at the competition next year, I'm afraid and see if they are getting better results. Now, one positive: I was delighted that Turbotax automatically loaded my investment and bank accounts information. Rated 4 out of 5 by from TurboTax is almost awesome TurboTax worked great. The exception was medical health insurance: it was not clear where to input the information about medicare. I called the help number and after 4 calls I finally got through to a help expert. After blundering through several premutations, we finally had the right page to record the information. The phone helper was very helpful, but even he had to blunder around to solve the problem. I use TurboTax every year and it is (almost) flawless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Software is excellent, experts are disappointing The turbotax software is great, empowered me to file my own tax return. Unfortunately I didnt get any support form the so called experts, who almost never were able to answer my questions. Hope they invest in better advisors. Further, I had originally signed up for full service, had discussion with the tax expert, uploaded all the requested documents. The expert decided to drop me midway, didnt have to courtsey to inform me that she was not preparing my taxes, while I waited to here from her. Consequently I lost a month. The good thing is that I ended up preparing my returns on my own with no support, and that makes me feel confident and in control!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax added state fee should include e-filing! Unhappy! -- I have generally been satisfied with Turbo Tax (over ten years). However, this year, I had to add an additional state. I believed the $45 up-charge I paid would also include the e-filing fee...but no! That would have cost me another $25, nearly doubling my original cost by $70. That state is now on its way somewhere in a truck.
