Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sometimes a Mystery It is not always clear what the software is doing and it is hard to get back to something and check it without going through the entire entry process. Also, I have a refund due from state and decided to have it applied to my estimated taxes but the program keeps telling me I am not due and refund.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax has MAJOR problems Turbotax didn't recognize the 14-character number on one of my W-2s. I double checked with my employer/HR AND triple checked with my coworkers who also filed their taxes through Turbotax. They said they were able to resolve their problems by uploading their W-2 and so I didn't the same. Turbotax couldn't seem to fix the same issue they had for me when I tried to file. This system also replaced my employer's information with a previous employer's information that I didn't work for this year, nor had the W-2 for. MADE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE! I called Tubotax specialists who hung up on me twice while I was on hold and then finally the last specialist said that the 14-character number was wrong, when it was not. They didn't help me resolve my problem and I'm super disappointed. I'm also still very confused about how to file by mail. This system has problems and it seems like the specialists don't know how to help people. Figure it out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax is fairly good BUT Turbo Tax is usually flawless but some time I get into data entry loops. For example ... I just retired October 2020 from the Federal Government and I received my pension with the 1099-R form. On the 1099-R form line 1 had the gross amount but line 2a. had Unknow for the taxable amount. I check data not provided for line 2a. Later the software asked about the annuity values and calculated the correct amount based on pub 721 which I verified. Later the software wasn't happy that I checked data not provided so I unchecked the box and entered the amount already entered on the taxable amount on 1040 5b. I don't know how many US Government retires use Turbo Tax, but could Intuit clean this step up? I know I would have been stuck if I didn't already know about IRS Pub 721. Thanks.

I've been using turbo tax for a decade, however, it's always incredibly difficult to NOT file your state taxes through the site. I didn't see an option to remove State from my cart and was pressed for time and decided to just pay the $50. That didn't break me, but for some...that's a big price to pay for an easy paper doc that I can pick-up at the library and file. It comes of as if its designed that way, which leaves a bad final feeling. Otherwise, super easy.
