Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beyond Frustrating Every year I have issues filing my taxes for free, even though it's usually claiming to be free with extra 'add-ons' but I have to fight the website to not charge me extras, just to get charged at the end anyway. I do not have complicated taxes - no businesses, no kids, no house, no foreign affairs, etc. yet I have to pay 200.00 for a website that just frustrates me to no end every time I use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TurboTax Live Full Serice is very good experience! Overall, this was a very good experience and much cheaper than the private CPA company we have used in the past. And they made an error of a couple thousand dollars last year, which is one reason we wanted to try Live Help with TurboTax. And, again, overall, it was a very good experience. A couple of things regarding the software that needs improvement: 1) My wife and I both work and file jointly. However, when we walked through the software to add our W-2s and 1099s, the software acted like we should only have one 1099 and we had multiple from various sources. The software did not direct us to enter it anywhere. After a few hours my wife decided to just upload them as supplemental documents and that ended up working. But this was a waste of time and effort for us to figure this out. We let TurboTax know that we were having problems, they contacted us by phone after we had figured out how to proceed, and basically said "Yes, we hear this is an issue with folks at times." Common, your software engineers need to work hand-in-hand with end users like us to make this as seamless and easy as possible. We were so frustrated we almost wanted to just go back to our brick-and-mortar CPA. 2) Wanted to use part of our refund for paper I Bonds which are currently paying nearly 7% interest by the Feds. The TurboTax software and directions had us in a dead-end loop with our Live Tax Expert for nearly an hour trying to get this to work. Again, not a very common thing for folks to want to use their Fed Tax Refund for but we would think that TurboTax would have plenty of experience with such less frequent activities that their software would walk their Live Preparer and us through it to more seamlessly opt into it and then be able to file electronically our Federal and State Income Taxes. Again, overall a worthwhile experience but not without challenges. And hopefully we won't have and hiccups like we did last year with a private CPA firm that nearly cost us serious money with our Fed return.
