Rated 2 out of 5 by from A spreadsheet would work the same is less annoying Turbo Tax is proof that lack of competition in a segment leads to garbage. First the marketing experience. The software is marketed as coming with a "free state", but you have to pay them $25 to e-file it. It costs Intuit nothing but they will are certainly happy to bilk you for the service. The software is gaudy as heck. It is constantly tells you how much of a return it "Got you". Quicken is just doing (or pretending) to do the math. You're still making me do all the work with my money. How about you deeply integrate with Quicken (same company) so that I don't have to dig around for a bunch of answers for your stupid questions. If they really wanted to do me a favor, at the end it would tell me what I should consider changing so that I don't owe money next year. If it were more than just a fancy wrapped spreadsheet, it could do that. Or, and who is stupid enough to fall for the 15 second "checking your return for errors" wait. Come to find out, I can't open my previous year file because I don't know my software key. I still have 2020 loaded on my computer. The same one that did the return. I threw away the CD case (bought at Costco) last year assuming that the computer would remember that I entered it a year earlier. We constantly being upsold for useless garbage and subscriptions. I didn't know when I paid $50 (or $75 for the e-file) I was signing up for a timeshare presentation.
