Rated 4 out of 5 by from TurboTax Pluses and Minues The functionality of the software is good, and for the most part walks you through step-by-step. However, it is a bit more difficult items like properly recording investment gains and losses and dealing with any potential underpayment penalties. It is not quite as intuitive for items like finding where you can enter the partial year tax details for form 2210 (which saved me $500 from the original TurboTax estimate). I also found the details needed for Section 1256 reporting could have been a bit clearer. I think providing sample scenarios could have been helpful. For the reporting of partial year tax details, TurboTax should automatically request those details and make you select "not available" if you don't have them (it asks if you want to enter them, but most people wouldn't know that it could benefit them). For the Section 1256 reporting, examples would be helpful (eg since it didn't pull that info in from my 1099-B that was uploaded from my broker, explaing what data should be summed and pulled from that form manually and input into TurboTax would be good). Although I didn't have any straddles to report, more explanation around the classification and reporting of those would be nice.
