Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing program this year. It was so hard getting started this year with Turbo Tax. I have used TT to do my taxes for the last 8 years, and have loved using it to file. It has always been so easy to use, but this was by far the hardest time I've had. Very disappointing....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a fan after years of preparing taxes myself Throughout the year, we keep running records of certain expenses and deductions. When using Turbo Tax, they want to delineate each item separately. This was our first year using it, so it took hours to separate these expenses to answer the questions and enter each separately. Then after all the prompts, it came up with our same total line item sum... which we could have already supplied without spending the hours to separate what we had already prepared. For instance, with medical expenses, we kept records after each medical appointment. TurboTax insisted on our entering dental separately than medical administrative fees, hospital bills, copays, premiums, etc. At the end it made the grand announcement of the total medical deduction that we knew before spending hours dividing this information only to answer the questions. Same thing with the small business expenses. We already had our Schedule C ready from our usual record keeping throughout the year. We spent hours dividing it to answer the questions only to have the total be what we could have provided in less time. Another thing, when the program was deciding if we should take the standard deduction or itemize, it said if we knew we had a certain dollar amount of medical expenses, we should take the time to itemize. We knew we exceeded that amount it said and itemized as aforementioned and at the end it said "Great Work! Good news, you're getting the standard deduction!" Perhaps it is the first year learning curve, but in many ways, using TurboTax made the taxes take longer than when we did it ourselves - and we came out with the same refund total as when we did them weeks ago to compare our method with TurboTax.
