Rated 2 out of 5 by from The Turbotax Products Get Worse Each Year. I've been using Turbotax since the 1990's. The program used to be dummy-proof. In other words, all of the questions were on the front end, and the instructions and explainers were detailed. With each passing year, more and more of the service is back-ended so that we are actually working on the forms. If we wanted to work on actual forms, we could print out forms for free. We pay to have Turbotax ask us the important questions it needs so that it can handle the back-end stuff on its own. This year's form actually told me to 'Look at the FORMS and decide if any of the tax rebates apply to you' rather than just ask me questions to elicit the information so that TurboTax can suggest relevant rebates. If I wanted to examine tax forms and try to decipher them, I wouldn't pay the money for TurboTax. One of these days, TurboTax will essentially be just the tax forms and a few generic queries. Come on now, Intuit. Get back to creating the best tax software like you used to do 20 years ago. Stop trying to save a few bucks because if this keeps deteriorating, the product will no longer be worth the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TurboTax is great I've Used it Many years Went smoothly but not clear how to enter 1099-G amount for business. Help was not totally clear. That took some time. Also, some of the checks were not clear, others were well explained. Overall, very good

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax system act up It took me 9 times get pass the screen after putting in my drivers license information I had to reload and ended up closing out and logging back in a few times before it worked

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have been a TT user for many years and this year when I was doing my daughter's taxes, she had a 1099-R form that she needed to file. I checked to see if we could file the 1099-R form on the free version of TT and it stated that we could. When we got to the end (after about 30 minutes), it said that it wasn't covered on the free version and she would need to upgrade to the Deluxe version. Since I already had the Deluxe version, we just took the extra half an hour and did her taxes on the Deluxe version. Here's the crappy thing...not only did she have to pay her Federal taxes because of the 1099 but now she had to pay $25 to file her state, when she wouldn't have had to pay on the free version. It's extremely upsetting to waste time doing this over again because you were misinformed.
