Rated 1 out of 5 by from TurboTax force me to pay extra I paid for TurboTax Deluxe back in February, for $39. However, when I filed in April, somehow it upgraded me to Premium, which I do not need because I'm not self employed or small business. Then it asked me to pay $100+ extra. I could not downgrade by "erase and start over" because I've already paid a portion. Even if I could start over, doing that on last minute before tax day is just not possible. Eventually I caved in and paid the extra but I swear I will never use TurboTax again, what a scam.

I do appreciate it "finding" the 'hidden' tax breaks' I might have otherwise missed but that should be standard for any service that charges half a bill. The Search system has definitely seen an upgrade and is one of the nicest new features todate. The sour taste in my mouth did not come from the multiple efforts to UPGRADE but from the somewhat Surprise! of having to pay and ADDITIONAL FEE around $40 to have them take their $50 Service fee out of the refund check.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Way too many complications. Frustrating that it didn't explain in more detail what the tax blend was. I spent forever with my accountant relative trying to figure out why I was being charged as many taxes as I was. Also the system should have told me at the START that I needed my 2021 tax returns to verify my identity! Everything was overly complicated and ended up taking way longer than it all needed to. Probably not gonna come back next year and will file my taxes by hand.
