Rated 4 out of 5 by from TurboTax Experience I've used this software for a very long time. For the most part the interface is fairly well designed. Every once in a while I have come across what I believe to be some software bugs (a few with the Federal return, but more so with the State return I use). I've spoken to customer service several times regarding these types of issues as well as other questions I have during the process of filling out my taxes. Unfortunately, most of the time (with only a few exceptions) the agent has refused to believe a bug could possibly exist and has done very little to help my situation. I was a software developer during my entire career, and I know bugs can always be found in even the simplest of programs. I'm sure a program as complicated as tax software absolutely has a multitude of bugs. It is a good thing there are override features within the software to resolve "most" of the issues I've run into. I do commend the developers of this software however as it has certainly matured over the years and has (for the most part) gotten better. There is one issue I had this year in particular that I'd like to point out. Every single time the program required an update, the download of the update would occur in under 30 seconds, but the installation of the update would take close to (if not over) an hour to complete. The initial download and installation of the program didn't even take that long. If I remember correctly, I believe I was able to initially install the software in 10 to 15 minutes. Why an update would take so long is beyond me. Customer service tried to convince me that it's the internet. I don't believe this as I mentioned the actual download finishes in mere seconds, whereas the update of the software following the download is what's taking so long, so I know the internet is no longer in play. This has never happened to me before in all the years I've been using this program. So I'm not sure what may have changed this year. I am running this software on an iMac with plenty of memory and disk space, and with the latest OS. There is no other software on my system that experiences this type of problem, so my current thinking is there must be something going on with the update process of TurboTax. I have monitored the CPU usage of the update process, and it appears the update has very low system priority and uses very little CPU percentage during its process. Not sure why this is as there is very little else going on when I'm doing this. And I'll reiterate... this happens every time an update is required, which has been a multitude of times since installing this software back in November. One agent I spoke to did actually submit a problem report regarding this. I was hoping it would have been addressed already, but the issue still exists.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow to update, still some errors Took until the end of March until I could file due to sections "not ready yet". Errors needing input do NOT provide any info as to what the problem might be. Also, errors in how forms completed per IRS documentation. I've had good luck with TurboTax until those year, but a TON of problems with 2021 version.

I really appreciated the time he took to explain and answer any questions I had along the way. I will be using TurboTax moving forward! Thanks for the awesome experience!
