Rated 2 out of 5 by from Refinance mortgage bug costs thousands of dollars I was about to file my taxes and happened to compare it with my last year's returns. I noticed the mortgage interest deduction was significantly less. I had refinanced my loan in August. I played around with TurboTax and found that if I only put one mortgage, my tax due was significantly lower. Then I searched around and saw the article from TurboTax which showed how to work around this bug in TurboTax. If I didn't catch it, I would have paid thousands of dollars more in taxes!! In any case, there is also another issue which the article doesn't solve - which is the mortgage was under contract before 12/14/2017, but closed a few days later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Easy + Efficient I choose the option to have a Turbo Tax expert file my return. Frank was extremely helpful, confident in his answers to all the questions I had and fast! My taxes were complete in a few days and all I had to do was provide the right documentation that Frank listed out for me. Very happy with this service - thank you Frank!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate their guts They will nickel and dime you every chance they get. It states that you only have to upgrade your tax return for "Complicated tax situations" but in reality if you claim a single thing then they will force you to purchase "deluxe" Literally I made 8500$ last year and the ONLY thing special about my taxes was that I was taking the American Opportunity Credit for going to school. Just about the most commonplace credit you can find and that means that I have to pay the deluxe price. Which they only tell you after you've spent an hour filling out everything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbotax gets better each year. I have been using TT since its beginning. This year has the best interface yet. Much easier for the help and expanded explanations. Only thing missing is coupon for a Starbucks coffee.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Deluxe didn't handle "Second Home Sale" Turbo Tax Deluxe was fine until it came for accounting for the sale of out second home. Then it turned into a shill for me to spend more money to buy Premier for this single item only. Since it was not an investment and was never rented out or used for anything other that our summer stays (we live in Florida) in New York to see out Grandkids, and since the pandemic market caused the sales price to be less that our Cost plus Improvements, the net result was we sold at a loss, which is not deductible. So it should have been easy!!! But it was anything but easy. Nevertheless, it is required that we report it on both our Federal and New York State returns and Turbo Tax wanted more money to do so, even though it ultimately needed to be handled as a simple investment! New York and the Federal Government are unforgiving for not reporting a sale reported on a Form 1099, and Turbo Tax did not help at all. They failed, and I saw numerous complaints about this on the message boards, yet Turbo Tax totally choose not to fix the issue. A stupid decision to make a couple of extra bucks will result in the loss of users for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good help TAxes kept getting kicked back. Went in to fix the problem but it kept coming back. After 3 times I called customer service. It appeared that the program was added a digit where it didn't belong. I kept tryng but it kept happening. I decided to check last years forms and found out that the federal government made a mistake on the 1199s and left out a digit.
