Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable tax prepare program I typically download turbotax. This year I did the online version which was a bit more frustrating for me although I got through it. I like to see the actual forms throughout and it didn't transfer info from my 2019 return which I like to see while I'm working as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Federal, Poor State Program The Federal Program was clear and self-explanatory. The only concern I had was the lack of a direct link from issues discussed to the appropriate Federal Tax reference. The Arizona State Program, however, was poorly documented and referenced. 1. For example, you are asked "What expenses related to income do you have that Arizona does not tax?" Not only was I clueless to the answer, but there was no reference to the Arizona tax code that might explain the question. 2. Under Capitol Gains, after three examples, the question is "Do you need to make any other subtractions or adjustments to your federal income for Arizona purposes?" I have no idea what other subtractions might need to be considered or made. Again, there is no reference to the Arizona tax code that might provide a hint of what is being asked. 3. In the review of the Arizona return I was asked about a $6,000 amount in the Capitol Gains section of the Federal return without any reference to WHERE the $6,000 came from, WHAT it was in reference to, or HOW I could locate the amount. Considerable time was spent tracking down the required information due to inadequate references or explanations. 4. Under the Arizona Tax Credits allowed for local charities, there is no information provided about the breakdown of the different categories: schools, charities, foster children, etc. Additionally, again, there are no references provided on the limitations for each of these categories. You are simply asked to whom you did contribute, and given a list with their state assigned numbers. There were numerous questions ask about AZ tax forms 321 and 352 without any explanation about the forms, and again, without any references provided for background information. In general, the AZ state tax program is like a ghost of a program when compared to the Federal. It is lacking in explanation of the tax laws, in references to look up details, and in overall procedures necessary to walk the preparer through submitting an AZ State Income Tax Form. It falls short of expectations and is not worth the cost of the program.
