I just used the Free State and Federal and did them myself, i hope it works out because I had a 1099G that TurboTax kept saying was already taken care of in the State refund section (it was about state refund, not unemployment or anything like that).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Efficient. User friendly. Comprehendable. As a college student I'm constantly swamped with information. I'm burnt out usually. TurboTax makes for a very clear experience when filing taxes. The hyperlinks and information bubbles are awesome for denoting the specific nature of certain tax-related criteria. Everything is fast and doesn't require much thinking involved. Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable and dependable, but poor search help I'm a 30 year Turbo Tax user for Federal and Virginia and appreciate the reliability and Easy Step feature, but it frustrates me. Upon starting to prepare taxes with 2022, I expected it to soon ask if I want to import from last year. It does not. I started taxes and noticed it never asked me to import from last year, then had to look up how to import and then started all over. This year the Help/Search field found not even one of the topics I entered, such as Instructions for Form 8606. The Turbo Tax Help Center was not much better, and usually brought up unrelated responses. I usually ended up going to IRS support or Virginia Gov Taxes. The help support for the Virginia Tax application is even worse. I usually work on my taxes in late evening in April. Turbo Tax doesn't have tax experts available in that time. I would really appreciate if they would have tax experts available 24/7 from early March through late May, especially since the TurboTax application is so poor at providing help. It seems to me that 2017 and prior had much better internal application help and support available. TurboTax web site seemed to provide support only for the on-line preparation product and not the packaged local installed version. Also annoying is the fact that it gave occasional prompts what seemed to be storing my data on-line with TurboTax. Did I want to use their on-line tax preparation and storage service. No! That's why I buy it to install it on my computer and keep my data local. I hope that the 2023 Tax application will have improvements in these areas.
