Rated 2 out of 5 by from Charge too much I have used turbotax for eight years because it's do convenient. Every year they charge another surprise fee. It is very disheartening when you don't have a choice but to pay whatever they want you to pay.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Has Really Lost its Quality The tool almost cost me $1500 in refunds due to a technical issue. I had to upgrade just to get live help to solve the technical issue. Live help had long wait times and was unsuccessful with odd excuses until the third attempt. It was not calculating all of my eligible mortgage interest and therefor applying the standard deduction. First excuse was that the IRS was modifying schedule A. The real fix required me to delete all my mortgage interest entries (I refinanced 2 times) and re-enter so the application could regenerate a Schedule A. Finally, the state return was rejected due to an error in their program. This was easy to resolve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplicity I can prepare & file my Federal return, but California state income tax is a whole ‘nother beast. I use TurboTax to make sure that I don’t misinterpret the instructions for my CA return and file early so any mistakes can be fixed before taxes are due.
