Rated 2 out of 5 by from Helpful Service, Deceptive Pricing This is the fourth year in a row I've used the basic filing tool and it gets more expensive every year. Initially this year it said I could file completely free if I file before 2/15. (I even put an event in my phone to remind me when I saw this.) 2/14 rolls around, I log in to file, and the most basic package is $40. Fine. I figured free was too good to be true. Then come to find out as I went through the filing process, they tack on another $40 per state (2 for me.) So I basically logged in thinking I would file for free and spent $120 by the time it was over. Extremely frustrating. I bit the bullet and did it anyway for the convenience factor. All my info from previous years was already saved with Turbo and I was so annoyed by the time I figured all this out I didn't have the patience to shop for another service. All that being said, it is a fairly easy process. There are helpful tips on every page of the federal filing portion that help me feel confident I'm doing this super confusing tax thing right. The state portions were a different story. There were much fewer readily available "tips", and the search and help pages were no help at all. I had to do a lot of googling on my own to figure out what info the questions were actually asking for. All in all, the federal filing is very helpful for people like me who are completely clueless about taxes. As far as state filing goes, I bet you could find just as helpful a service for a lower cost (that is actually what they say it will be before you get started) and walk away with a smaller headache.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Couldn’t downgrade back to the free version I accidentally added Turbo tax deluxe version and then was unable to downgrade back to the free version! Cost me $80 that I wasn’t planning on spending.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Year 8 and still Great! This is my 8th year filing with TurboTax. I came to them after a LARGE NAMED COMPANY YOU KNOW messed up my taxes and I owed several thousand dollars because they omitted a W2! I never have had a problem with TurboTax and I will stick with them.
