Rated 4 out of 5 by from TurboTax Deluxe - Download - Product Review The software is relatively easy to use. Sometimes, I did have questions that I could not easily answer. That slowed me down a bit. I did reach out to a Customer Service agent once, who explained more about the tax return submission process. That was quite helpful. The price for the software was good. Overall, it was a good experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I received exceptional support from the help desk The TurboTax person that helped me was Darwin. He was fantastic. He was very patient with me as he walked me through an area of my return that I was not familiar with. He helped tremendously. He deserves more than a pat on the back. If he worked for me I would give him a big raise as he is someone that you would want working for you. Darwin far exceeded my expectations. TurboTax is fortunate to have him on their staff.

For example, the instructions for determining how much foreign income you had from mutual funds was worthless when dealing with Vanguard Brokerage forms, since they simply give you a percentage of income that was foreign-derived. TurboTax's explanation of how to compute it was almost worthless.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Having to file tax returns is dumb This is a needlessly arcane and complex process and there's no good reason we should have to manually file tax returns every year. However, TurboTax is marginally better than using IRS worksheets to figure everything out. Even so, there are weird gaps in what doesn't get autopopulated in state returns and some sections are not intuitive or well explained. A couple of years ago we had complex tax situations, so ponied up for the live help tier of service, to find it not at all helpful. Basic TurboTax Deluxe is fine for the last few relatively simple years.
