Rated 1 out of 5 by from This was the worse filing year ever with Turbo Tax I have been using Turbo Tax since 2001, and as a result I generally don't hate having to do my taxes each year. However, after selling a rental property in 2020 and trying to grind through Intuit's horrible system for the past 30 hours I am ready to abandon the Turbo Tax ship altogether. After unlinking previous year's accruals (the biggest reason I keep using Turbo Tax), adding unnecessary forms through the filing process and flagging them as incomplete, then squirreling all the necessary forms in the background where I couldn't get to them for simple editing (uncheck a box that Turbo Tax arbitrarily checked), Intuit topped it all off by implementing a final review process that wouldn't fix the errors on my forms. I had to delete out all my rental property forms (nearly 20 depreciation worksheets) three times and read hours of tax law to figure out how to get through the convoluted process. What I ultimately found out is that Intuit has been failing to account for and depreciate improvements I made to my rental property for the past 13 years, which probably cost me thousands since I can't reasonably go back and claim everything now. Lesson learned, but at least now I don't have a compelling reason to stick with Turbo Tax any longer (since they wiped out past data linkages).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Turbo tax has some bugs Some data i could not enter with out it being changed when i went back to review. Example- one screen asked if my retirement pension income was paid out periodically such as monthly. I checked the "yes" box and when I went to review this section, it had reverted to the "no" box. Every time i tried to change it to yes, it reverted to no. Since i figured this did not affect how much tax i was going to owe, I moved on. Another problem I had concerned our IRA distribution. One screen asked if the traditional IRA distribution was converted to a Roth IRA. It was in our case so I answered yes. When I went back to review this, the screen had erased the "yes" answer and did not have an answer filled in. This was kind of important since it directly affected the amount of taxes. I printed out the applicable forms and manually checked to make sure the correct amount of tax and refund of my calculations were the same as Turbo tax.
