Rated 3 out of 5 by from Let's put 2022's Form 8962 debacle behind us After 26 consecutive purchases of TurboTax I came real close to quitting you guys for good. I'm retired and rely upon Form 8962 working well enough before year end so I can figure out how much of a taxable withdrawal I can take from an IRA w/o jeopardizing my ACA subsidy. The arrogant programmer who purposefully and errantly reintroduced the infamous "subsidy cliff" and insisted they were right while everyone else was wrong finally caved in and put a fix in, but in February. (Too late for me since the tax year had already closed.) It would be kind of TurboTax to work on improving its method for collecting bug reports. I reported the problem with form 8962 in early November. I can't tell you what happened with my report. Perhaps you all can tell me? This situtation got me upset so I bought HR Block Software to run it in parallel with TurboTax. I can say that TurboTax still has the edge in terms of the UI and, I think, a bit more detail in both interview questions & when drilling down into the worksheets. So I'm leaning to stay with TurboTax. And it's my hope that the programmer was so thoroughly humiliated by their mistake that there won't be repeats of such outlandishly bad errors in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shared Policy Allocation instructions form 1059-A Need A LOT more information and direction for tax filers who might need to do a "shared policy allocation" on their 1059-A form, that links to Form 8962: divorced couples, unexpected changes in household size during year, etc. Totally missed little section IV on how to share the cost of the Premium Tax Credit for health insurance between multiple tax families. IRS rejected our filing the first time as they said this needed to be reconciled. Would be nice if when going through final review, TurboTax asked "Did you have a healthmarketplace insurance policy? If so, did you complete forms 1059-A/8962? (with a link back to that section in the Medical Section of Deductions and Credits.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Customer service is the worst it has been in years Out of everyone who helped me today, Misty was the most helpful, empathic and caring in understanding what i was facing and the issues I've had with customer service for 11 hours. Thats longer than a day job. Even though Malinda helped solve my main problem with the federal tax, she had the nerves to tell me basically, "I've been through this for so many hours because I choose to file on my own." I have NEVER taken this long to file taxes and that's because not one representative knew what they were doing and the calls kept dropping; also, the automated system was difficult to bypass about two times because they don't understand simple English. My worst experience filing online in 3 years. What happened this year? I do my own taxes with little help, not 11 hours...darn near half a day to file taxes.
