Rated 1 out of 5 by from TURBO TAX IS A RIPOFF I REDID MY RETURN TO SELECT THE FREE FILING OPTION AS MY RETURN IS A SIMPLE RETURN AND THEY STILL CHARGED ME $178! I ONLY GOT $278 BACK AND HALF OF IT WENT TO TURBO TAX! I'M JUST A STUDENT AND THAT EXTRA MONEY COULD HAVE BEEN GAS FOR ME!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TurboTax saved a lot of time Impressive how it populates 1099 information from the brokerage. However, one of the investments was in physical gold, the firm sold a small amount to cover management fees, TurboTax needs to include 'how' this s/b handled. When I spoke to seasoned IRS agents they were unclear as well.

State return option was a pain in the butt and i ended up taking $400 less of a return because it was super confusing. The program somehow knew i was owed a much bigger return but made it super confusing to try and figure out how to get it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from confusing instructions The download feature from investment brokers did not work for either of my accounts even with contacting TT. I was told to retry in a week, that you were having trouble with that feature. The instructions to mail form 8453 were confusing. In my case do I need to mail that with a copy of form 8949 or not?

In filing my taxes for some unknown reason while I was making by payment the system locked up. I called help desk and Phil walked me through to finally complete the transaction.
