Rated 4 out of 5 by from A few complaints/changes, but overall good There are a couple of things that I think would be helpful: 1) Bring back the Forms view! Then you can see what you are filling out and where all of these questions refer and where they fit back into your form 1040. 2)Health Insurance Premium deduction instructions are unclear: I purchased HI through a state exchange and received an Advance Premium Tax Credit (APTC), but also paid a significant portion of my premium out of pocket, so is the portion that I paid out of pocket deductible? And while the instructions say you can't deduct HI if you get a form 1095-A, the turtobtax blog page https://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/health-care/when-can-you-claim-a-tax-deduction-for-health-insurance-17419/ says "If you received a subsidy or premium tax credit to purchase a health insurance plan in the Health Insurance Marketplace, any advanced-payment subsidy that lowered the cost of your health insurance premiums cannot be claimed as a deduction. However, the money you paid out of your own pocket for your premiums MIGHT be tax deductible." This last sentence makes things pretty confusing (key word "MIGHT") and there is no further explanation of when you can/can't deduct your premiums! It seems equally probable that the premium I paid out of pocket could be deductible, or alternatively that Form 8962 and 1095-A calculate that for me and I can't deduct those premiums. So which is it? After a lot a research and finally calling TurboTax support and going through form 8962, I determined that 8962 figures your tax credit and I can't additionally/separately deduct my out-of-pocket HI premium. The TT product support agent (not TT "Tax Expert") was helpful, but we had to spend over an hour together tracking it down beyond the 5 hrs I had already spent. I find the lack of clarity and examples from TT to be a significant oversight. Being able to see forms view would have been helpful in figuring this out on my own (See comment 1). 3) TT is expensive relative to other programs, but I have kept using it for sake of continuity since I have used it past several years. 4) Nevertheless, overall TT is pretty easy to use and the big plus is that I get to import all of my information from my bank account, saves a lot of time. and yes they do get the math right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TurboTax is OK but not exceptional TurboTax seems smooth, but there are often unexplained loops that don't close... particularly w/re to information about previous identity theft. Also, WHY can't TurboTax alphabetize the charity list? Finally, MN state tax form wants info on long-term care policies but asked for it just before filing with ambiguous requests like "line 1" and providing useless info like "you must submit a number with a valid character."
