Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fee Hungry, Not so User Friendly, Flaws I, at age 77, struggled through the steps, and ultimately got there, but it was very stressful. I may get the LIVE option right up front next year, but it galls me to pay $90 to talk to somebody just to help me get around in the system that I paid for up front. Problems with maneuvering in the system should be handled as just part of the deal. These people were lovely, and they were able to help, but for them to be considered TAX EXPERTS is a misnomer. I knew what I needed to do but was just having trouble finding the how, and I couldn't find the way to get to a technical advisor (who should be included in the original fee). The last major problem that I had was with New York State STAR Rebate and another Real Estate tax rebate I received last year. I spent hours trying to edit the Real Estate Tax paid (drawn from connection with Wells Fargo Bank) to reflect the reduction required there in the Federal section, finally gave up (yes, a note in the online help directed me to go to a section to edit it, but #1, it didn't make sense where it directed me to and #2, I finally found the section referenced but apparently didn't go as far in CONTINUE options to get to the actual update spot). At that point, mission not accomplished, I went on to the state. There was a spot for them there, and a message there said that if I itemized, I'd have to edit the Property Tax Paid in federal. I knew that, of course, so there I was, right back to the original problem. Handling of these checks should have been either presented as an option in Federal, or worst case, presented where it was and upon State review, popped up a screen in Federal where I (or the system), enters the amounts. And what's with the fee for a form that's not standard? Maybe make it standard under certain conditions. It had to do with 1, maybe 2, forms (I haven't printed my return yet, so I don't have the numbers) with only 2 lines each to be entered. It was about rental income. The only rent I received was for a week at my Timeshare unit, not too complicated since I don't take care of the property, just pay my annual maintenance fee. I opted to have my fees taken out of my refund. A $39 fee was added, and by this time, I was in auto mode and just clicked CONTINUE. Changed my mind. A "tax expert" was able to help me through review of my fees so I could kill that one off. Again, if I'm having trouble navigating the system, it should not be a "tax expert" who takes care of it. For the record, I had come back to Turbo Tax after some years away. I had been using another tax software and was dissatisfied. Their questions were inadequate, and I felt that I knew a lot more than their system which concerned me. What did I not know? Yours, for the most part, is more thorough, except for the fatal flaw with Property Tax Rebates.

OUT OF NECESSITY AND AS A RESULT OF STARTING MY OWN BUSINESS, I FINALLY SUCCUMBED TO GETTING ON THE TURBO TAX SITE. WOW, I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS YEARS AGO. IT WAS AMAZING! I ALSO FELT VERY CONFIDENT THAT NO STONE WAS LEFT UNTURNED AND NOTHING WAS FORGOTTEN. THANK YOU!
