Rated 2 out of 5 by Scstacy12 from Very Disappointed I was required to upgrade to the premium option because I made $40 in dividends. The upgrade cost more than what I made! When I called the support line about this there was nothing that could be done (not even a coupon code). We use TurboTax because it is the most cost effective way to do taxes but if I am going to have to pay this much, I will look into alternative options next year.

However, the last several years there are certain medical expense fields that will not accept an entry. Therefore, I am forced to enter it wherever it will be accepted. It all ends up the same, but it is a tad frustrating. Not totally accurate reporting to the IRS for whatever they use the information for. In addition, with all of the backlog at the IRS I do not know why no one has lobbied the IRS to expand from five free e-file returns to say 10. I had to manually file my granddaughters first ever return. More work for the IRS.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
