However, TT must provide an e-File option where the user allows less than the full amount to be paid, if that user has an IRS payment plan (120 days, NOT installment plan). TT should have a choice for the 120 Day installment plan and allow the user to attach proof from the IRS that the payment plan exists. The mail in option is folly, insecure, time consuming, a waste of paper and not reliable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to pay unless I pay the upcharge Program is easy to navigate, and having used it before all of my info was already synced, but when came time for payment I spend a long while trying to get the bug worked out. When trying to pay by credit card it was blank but when opting to spend the additional $40 to have payment taken from my refund, there wasn't any problem. Difficult to find a customer service number to call and took a while to get a rep on. First rep switched me to an automated line that sent me a useless email and hung up on me. Second rep was sweet and helpful. The second rep finally was able to help me and I made payment, but it seemed too convenient for TurboTax and felt like a scam. If everyone has to dedicate an extra 40 minutes to not pay the additional $40, I'm sure TurboTax will be raking it in. It also blows my mind that two years ago I paid about $60 to file with TurboTax and now it's $120. That's a heck of an update.
