Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad Intuit rep experience! We contacted Intuit regarding a question about 2021 Turbotax. Specifically regarding forms for Credits and Deductions. This in in the Premier edition. On the screen that shows my total deductions and credits, I have a standard deduction of $27800 and I have a charitable cash contribution of $600. Below that the total contributions show $27800 which did not add in the $600. Why did this total not increase? I read the following statement in Turbotax regarding charitable deductions "In order to qualify for a tax deduction, you must itemize the deductions on your tax return". Does this mean the entire filing must be itemized or only the charitable contributions section? The IRS indicates that the charitable contributions can be deducted also when taking the standard deduction. When I talked with the Intuit rep that answered my call, she told me that IRS change to charitable contributions for 2021 would reduce my total gross income. I could not find that that was true in my forms. She then changed her information and told me that the change in the IRS rules regarding charitable contributions for 2021 actually does nothing and tax filers would not see any benefit. Are the IRS changes in 2021 regarding charitable tax deductions being applied when using TurboTax software? We never received an answer. We have been using TurboxTax for more than 20 years and have never experienced this sort of an issue. Thank you.

No reflection on the TT tax program which is outstanding...it was due to missing information on tax forms I received. My deepest thanks to Janice, Tenia, I'zjha, Peggy, Krystal, Jim, and Leydi! You are all solid professionals, personable, knowledgeable and very patient. Thank You!!!
