Rated 4 out of 5 by from Favorable, but I have some reservations My review is favorable but I have some negatives to report. Pros: (1) TurboTax covered a lot of ground. It walked me through complicated steps. My detailed report (Federal + one state, forms + all worksheets) is 142 pages. (2) It probably found deductions and credits that I would have difficulties finding. That was a great help. [(1) and (2) are the main reason for my four star.] (3) When I called about an issue, the first rep was courteous and very helpful. She understood the problem and solved it to my great satisfaction. Cons: (1) I got confused by the two versions--desktop and online. TurboTax say these are seamlessly interlinked. I don't see how. (The first time the program crashed, I was lost. I had to input the data again.) (2) I called TurboTax on a second occasion. The rep was pleasant and tried to help. Advised me to go to the homepage (which I could not find) and press buttons (which I could not see on my screen). Wasted 35+ minutes. Reps should be hired on the basis of proficiency and competency alone. (3) I was doing 2021 returns in Jan 2023. TurboTax failed to fetch my forms (W-2, 1099s, health savings account, college savings,...) online. I spent a long time typing in data. The program ran through my Form 1040 (2020) and picked up data. I wish they did that for these other forms. This should be an easy improvement.
