I had used TurboTax in the past for just personal taxes, but at some point the constant prompting for add-ons became a bit excessive and undesirable then. But in the first year of running a home based business (self-employed, one-person LLC), the additional services like TurboTax MAX and the ability to reach out and talk to a tax expert or CPA via phone (on a Sunday: BOOYAH!!!) was invaluable and worth the price of admission. I have piece of mind that Intuit has my "Six," and feel less likely to be stymied or whammed by the IRS and incur a "newbie tax" as a result of my inexperience. I also feel like TurboTax found all of the deductions I was entitled to and got me my maximum refund (based on my observations, my review of my return before filing, and my confidence in Intuit).
