Rated 3 out of 5 by Not a fan like i was from Not as good as it used to be Turbo tax used to be really good at having details about how to fill out certain fields that seems to have gotten worse. Turbotax was particularly bad at dealling with stocks with dividend reinvestment plans. When you sell a stock from a DRP you don't really care about the sell date as they are all the same. What you want to know also is the purchase date. That will allow you to confirm that all the transactions have been correctly received. Turbo tax desperately needs both sell by and purchase dates for individual stocks when purchased through a dividend reinvestment plan.

If you have a simple tax return, you can file for free yourself with TurboTax Free Edition, or you can file with TurboTax Live Assisted Basic or TurboTax Live Full Service Basic at the listed price.

A simple tax return is one that's filed using IRS Form 1040 only, without having to attach any forms or schedules. Only certain taxpayers are eligible.
