Rated 1 out of 5 by from Full Service of the worst experience of my life I signed up for Full Service, because I felt like my taxes were going to be complicated and I wanted a professional to do a better job than I would. Turbo Tax doesn't seem to keep these Tax Preparers it hires, and the amount of time that you have with them is finite, though they don't give you any of that information until the agent in question says "my time with TT is almost at up". With the first Tax Preparer that Turbo Tax assigned to me, I was happily providing details, coordinating, trying to get everything worked out. The time came that they said they were done, and had me go over the results with them. The TurboTax UI allowed the preparer to see the completed tax forms, but not me. I could only see vague summaries and no details. I couldn't see any of the values the agent was pointing me to look at. To solve this, the Tax Preparer had me complete the checkout process so that I could have the prepared return shared with me. Once I had that, we went through the return outside of the turbo tax UI. While going over the prepared return, I informed them about how I believed this was not correct, or incomplete, as it omitted all of my itemized deductions regarding my side business.The preparer agreed, and agreed to go back and address it. Fast forward to the weekend before April 18. On Friday 4/15, my preparer tells me they've finished the updated doc and it's ready for submission. I know I have days to complete the submission, so I don't get on immediately as it's a weekend. On Saturday 4/16 I get another message, but I do not login to check it until too late. On Sunday 4/17 at 3am, Turbo Tax says "Sorry Full Service didn't work out" and drops all of my ability to communicate with my agent. I lost all ability to contact my agent, and the return they had completed preparing was deleted. Keep in mind, this is all AFTER I had already paid. I spent the whole day of 4/17 panicking and on the phone with customer service and agents. Eventually I was shifted back into Full Service and an agent helped me file an extension. When you go into Full Service, a new call is scheduled with an agent to get you another preparer. You can write down notes to discuss with this Agent. I had written down that I was dropped from Full Service and wanted to be connected with my previous preparer. The agent got on the phone and completely ignored my notes, asking me the usual intro questions. I asked "did you read my notes?" to which they replied "yes, of course" and then proceded to read and comprehend my note for the first time verbally with me. Within an hour or so later, another "Sorry Full Service didn't work out" email. This agent dropped me because he didn't want to deal with it. I sign onto Full Service, AGAIN. This time, the request to connect with previous preparer is met with action traction. Something happens, and I'm at least able to make some indirect communication. The return is gone. Work unrecoverable. Eventually I'm passed to a new preparer. A man this time. Sounds confident, eager to get started. Some week or two later, "Say hello to your new Tax Preparer." You'll forgive me if I don't remember names, there's been a few. Over the course of time between 4/18 and 6/30, I've had maybe 5 tax preparers. Each give me hope about how they're on the same page, etc, only to disappear when their term as being hired by Turbo Tax is up. And it's always messy when it is. They either want to close out your return immediately, or the work they've done is thrown away. Ultimately, the Turbo Tax UI, caliber of tax preparing talent, and policies regarding retention of tax preparing personnel and in-flight returns are so poor, that I had to file an extension for the first time in my life and have suffered some pretty significant stress. I'll probably spend the rest of my life telling everyone about how bad this experience was.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good idea, poor service and app design As a tax payer and UX designer I have to say: 1. [major issue] It is really hard to keep track of documents and tasks. I had to answer the same questions several times. 2. [UX disaster] It wasn't clear that if I don't respond for 2 weeks you are cancelling service and I have to start over since previous expert didn't leave any notes. 3. [inconvenience] You log me out from the system after 2 mins so I have to log back in 7 times a day. 4. It wasn't clear to me at the end that an expert tried everything to maximize my return.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Audit Function I incorrectly selected that I had a 1095 Form but did not make any entries. The audit failed to detect this and I submitted my return only to find later it was rejected by the federal government. The audit should have caught this error prior to me submitting the tax form
