Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax is Awesome The product is very easy to use. The format is easy to follow and the amount of information on the screen is enough to get you to understand what you need to do but not overwhelming to where you don't know where to start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great as Usual Great as usual. Did find myself filling out a few forms that I never had to deal with before like the Child Care form. The form showed we were not entitled to any credit, but still had to check boxes in the error analysis. I love the fact that it transfers the relevant information from the previous year. In the case of charities, it is a good memory jogger

It wouldn't let me file if I didn't correct an error that wasn't there, the only way I could continue was to delete my M1PR info, it wouldn't even allow me to go on and file without that when I selected to use mail in for that portion like I always have. This will be the last time I use Turbo Tax.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional but greedy Turbotax builds on it's history. I've been using it for over 30 years. Parts of it are still great and it does a pretty competent job on regular returns. It sure does like to toot it's own horn now. It constantly has "look at me" pages as you go through the return and the software is loaded with dark patterns trying to get you to spend more - read each box carefully to see if you are getting what you want. The cost to add an incremental state is as much as the entire package was at Costco so if you have any multi-state income be prepared to shell out a lot. Turbotax has had trouble for me in the HSA area. I have had a penalty on my return for years until last year I went back and found Turbotax didn't honor an over 55 checkbox on a 2015 return. It has been carrying over that excess $1000 all these years to 2021. When trying to clear that the software was no help and neither was the online. They will tell you how to clear it financially, but not how to get the documentation for that into the program. I finally had to study IRS documentation and find the field and work backwards through the forms (the "data source" on a field is a plus for Turbotax) to find what documentation I needed to get to clear my issue. I'm also not pleased to read about what they are doing with my data.

BUT every year you charge way way way too much money to file state taxes and checking account fees. I think you could get a larger portion of tax filers by lowering your fees. After all don't computers do the work for you and you probably don't pay your computers.
