Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple yet cumbersome Unfortunately, the past year's processing through TurboTax suggested and allowed a Federal exemption that later ended up unacceptable resulting in tax owed rather than the refund expected. This year - nothing was mentioned though W-2's and last year's filing information was automatically downloaded. Being charged full rate by TurboTax for State taxes preparation when not ableto e-file due to a defunct K-1 (even entering all zeros to supposedly remove it) was frustrating! For the most part, the process of filing via Turbo Tax is fairly simple.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I won't be back I've used TurboTax for over a decade. The price is now not worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Annoyed by what they make you pay for If you want to pay the extra fees by credit card, they end up charging you BEFORE you've even filed your taxes. That is messed up. They have charged you before you've even decided whether you want to file your taxes with them. So then at that point, you have no choice but to go through with the submission. Also, the sneakiness throughout of having to add fees when you pay state taxes (which almost everyone has to do. Absurd that they make you pay extra.), or to add some random dividend income, is really really frustrating. But the cherry on top is the fact that you have to pay TAX ON THE FEES TO FILE YOUR TAXES. WHAT???

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 1095-A Issues + Asset Vagueness 1095-A: TurboTax could not process a 1095-A with any months listed at $0.00 for Monthly Enrollment Premiums, SLCSP Premium, and Advance Payment of Premium Tax Credit. Had to print my returns instead of e-file because of this. Asset Vagueness: 1) Could not tell if my state (CA) allowed for Depreciation on my automobile because a notice came up that said CA does not calculate an amount for the type of depreciation in question. At the same time, TurboTax auto-filled the CA box with the equivalent amount of the Federal Depreciation. To be on the safe side, I put $0.00 in the CA depreciation, and I possibly missed out on tax deductions as a result. 2) Had to go back and delete an asset from my Income and Deductions category for which I hadn't filled in any information in order to avoid auto-fill of that asset and subsequent questions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's only flaw I love TurboTax, I've used this service every year since becoming an adult, and I don't plan on stopping. I willingly pay an essentially extravagant amount compared to the price of simply not using the service and doing my taxes myself, because this service gives peace of mind, and amazing convenience. The only flaw, is that they incessantly advertise their increased services of which I have no interest and clearly haven't for years. This is reasonably pardonable and only loses them one star.
