Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad advice and forced to pay for deluxe service? I called TurboTax support to resolve a question about IRA contributions. After speaking with someone, I thought I was reporting the correct value. Unfortunately this resulted in a penalty and I needed to contact two additional companies (Fidelity and my employer) to resolve the issue. However, it turns out that the advice I'd received from TurboTax was incorrect and no penalty would be issued. Then, as I went to file, I was prompted to pay for a service and the screen said it was because I paid excess social security tax and the free/basic version did not cover this. I have not seen this before, and there was no other option besides paying $100. I proceeded, and then was hit with an additional $50 fee for state filing for no apparent reason. Finally the total came out to nearly $200 with zero itemization for the remainder and no explanation as to why I needed to pay for additional services. Usually TurboTax is convenient and easy to use but this year has been a disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbo Tax is Awesome! To me, the Turbo-Tax application was easy and self-explanatory. I was encouraged all along the way with various pop-ups. At the end, a very nice lady looked through it and made sure that it all looked good....and like that....I am done!
