Rated 1 out of 5 by from Several Things to Consider When getting ready to file taxes they give you the "option" for free filing for Fed, and $49 for state. Great! Unless there is anything [they] feel might be a reason to charge you more. Fine, all is said I am paying $119 for Fed and $49 for state (as promised) and then I elected for ID theft protection which I calculate everything at $217. Get to the end and there is a hidden fee of $39 to have them deduct this from my federal return. So instead of paying $49 to file state (initially), the total amount owed to TurboTax is $256 in "fees" when all is said and done. TurboTax needs to be more forthright about their fees, and they need to not act like they are giving you any "options". It is very patronizing. I have used this platform for many years and since 2016 it has been gradually going downhill. My brother-in-law switched to H&R Block a couple of years ago and really likes them, I think I will be switching to them next year.

This program allows you to have piece of mind when filing- that you have reviewed all items needing review and checked all the boxes that need checking. I have been using TurboTax for 10 years. I would definitely recommend.
