Video: Do I File My Unemployment as Wages on My Tax Return?

Updated for Tax Year: 2011
You don't report your unemployment income as wages, but you still have to report it.

Jorigel from Live Community asks: "Do I file my unemployment as wages? I’ve had taxes taken out and I’ve gotten unemployment all year."

Hi, I’m Christine from TurboTax. And the answer is no. You would not report your unemployment income as wages, but you’re still not off the hook; you still have to report it.

Unemployment will be reported to you on a Form 1099-G from your state. Once you get this form, you need to report this income and any withholding. I hope that helps.
