Rated 1 out of 5 by from The worst experience of my life This year was the worst experience filled with new fees and saving problems. I had to redo everything several times because nothing would save. 10 out of 10 would not recommend. Turbo Tax is not what it used to be.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TurboTax was easy Turbo Tax was very easy to use. Just gather all your documents and answer the questions and POOF, you're finished! The only thing I was not happy about was finding out that I had to pay $110 for ONE QUESTION that didn't allow me to use Turbo Tax Free! Very unhappy about that!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good "upgrade" from previous programs Do not recommend. Long laborious process that was no picnic! Once sections complete, it then begs "review" that makes one easily "second guess" answers. Once in review, each subsection once completed, depending on the computer, one then has to repeatedly "scroll down" to open the next section. On the covid question re: government checks- it would ask if one was received, then default to $2400. We did not get the full amount so once "NO" was selected, it then went to where the true amounts were entered. If one went back to that section to review, it would then go back to the $2400 number that one would have to then answer "no" then review the correct values once again. Redundant! Paid the bill for the program on March 2. Now it is March 21 and I wished to print out the tax forms that one would mail. It would not allow me to review the forms. Had to call Tubotax- first help could not figure out why it appeared I had not paid. "There is no record". I then talked to another helpful person and we had to figure things out. Not sure if it was my doing, but it appears the program did this because I had not paid the $55 fee for submitting state return. There needs to be a note that "you paid to send federal electronically but "not state". All it does is state "pay now" or "pay later" implying that it would ask one to pay again. It should clarify that one has to pay more prior to being able to print out the return. ( I suppose that is done so one cannot send the federal one electronically, then print out a return and send it to the state without having to pay the $55 fee for e-filing the state return- it would be nice if they could better explain what one has paid for up to the time the reviews/filing are addressed) At one point, we thought it was the browser- switched from safari to Firefox. Not sure that had anything to do with the issue. Asked for help one day while filling out return. Had issue with OID("original issue discount")- since person cannot see 1099 from broker, it is difficult for them to help find the issue. I looked up the issue online by pulling up appropriate instructions on IRA website and figuring out what I needed to know myself( I hope what I did was correct!). There should be a way the tax preparers can have access to 1099's etc. Unless one has paid their bill, there is no way to see IRS forms as they would be sent to IRS. And it appears if one wished to send IRS their return, but not send their state return electronically, there seems to be no way one could see the forms as they would appear when mailed. That is frustrating. I had initially wished to look at the IRS forms and "play with the numbers" to see how much I could perhaps take out of my traditional IRA,( pay tax on it, put that withdrawal in a Roth IRA) and not go over the AGI that would trigger a medicare surcharge. I gave up on that issue. All is all, not happy with this "new" process. If it remains the same next year, I will switch to another product. I have used turbotax for years, but I think they have missed the mark. Asked to rate turbotax live expert. The person was professional and accommodating but for the question of concern, they had little to offer for they could not look at all the forms/data(such as 1099's issued by one's broker, etc)
