Turbo tax worked well but it's a slow process
Turbo tax worked fine. However, I would like to see the completed pages of the 1040 as I work on it. For instance, I want to review Schedule A immediately, and my entries. I thought it actually was more time-consuming than completing the IRS forms individually. The main advantage is that it totals/adds all your figures, so you don't have to double check. However, I felt like I lost control of my tax return by e-filing. I like completing the return better myself without being online. I think it takes less time. However, I guess the advantage is getting a refund much quicker. I did this return after hours, so I wasn't able to get answers to all my questions. I didn't want to report one of my withholdings, and I didn't feel like I could remove it. It automatically added a PA tax withholding to my itemized deductions, and I didn't want it added, because I'm trying to get a refund from PA, since I have not worked within the Pittsburgh city limits in many years. I would have like to speak to someone live, but it was after hours.

TurboTax Makes things easier
I've used TurboTax from at least a decade. It is fairly straight forward and takes alot of the uncertainty and stress of calculating income and expenses away from you since it walks you through the calculations and entries.

AGI as filed is wrong per the IRS
My federal and state tax returns are now late because I can't efile. The AGI in your 2020 software that I saved and printed a PDF of is apparently wrong according to the IRS. And there is no other way to confirm my ID so I can efile??? I haven't touched my 2020 return in Turbo Tax since I efiled that return. If I didn't change it, how in the world is it wrong per the IRS?

Poorly designed user interface.
Today I used both TurboTax desktop (for Mac) and the online versions. When I logged out and tried to log back in to the desktop version, it showed zero information, which was extremely alarming. I had to reload my tax file and this step wasn't obvious. I almost had a meltdown. When I did-reload, two windows stayed open: one with no information and the loaded one. I was very nervous to close anything because I'd lost all confidence in how files are saved and was worried that the blank file could over-write the good file. I did appreciate that it was easy to get through to a LIVE product expert for assistance. Yay!!! But I had to call many times due to problems I encountered, which shouldn't have been necessary. Another key problem is that as a consultant all business meals are 100% tax deductible (not 50%), but your 2019 desktop version didn't recognize this, so I had to do a work-around. Also, very confusing information in 2021 online on where to file self-employed health insurance premium deduction. It only says not to enter it into Business Insurance expenses, even though prior years instructed me to enter it here. Ugh!!!!! Also, different years give very different guidance related to expense categories.

Previous years were much better
I was disappointed in that I had to pull old returns for vehicle depreciation information that should of carried over from previous years using Turbo-tax. Had to enter zero's in 1099's with no amounts in boxes. Almost like I had not used Turbo-tax in previous years when I've used it for 15-17 years continuously.

I Always Receive a Much Larger Refund
This program is tedious, but thorough, by which you will be able to file your taxes accurately and, if you are going to get a refund, will find it much larger that using the old-fashioned hand fill-in forms!!

Gets Worse Every Year
The business product is hobbled compared to the Deluxe product. It can't import. It has no support for form 1099-R. It's quite a feat, but its buggier. And forms mode is now a joke. Error check gets you into unresolvable loops.
