Question

Asked

My tax return was filed and accepted with a direct deposit date of 2/13 expected, according to Turbo Tax. Now when I check the IRS website, it says a check will be MAILED on 2/20. How did this happen?

I checked with my bank to be sure my deposit wasn't pending and to be sure that my account would be able to receive the deposit. It wasn't pending and there would be no problem receiving it, so it isn't a problem on my bank's end or on my end. I have no understanding as to why the IRS website states my check will be mailed to me on 2/20 when it should have been direct deposited on 2/13. Frustrating! I have been e-filing for many years and have never had a problem before. Often, my refund would be direct deposited even a day or two early. So what is up with this year!

The same identical thing happened to me. The IRS answer when I questioned them, was that my refund was too large to be a direct deposit. I know this is BS considering my 2007 refund was larger than my 2008 and it was direct deposited into my bank. I have a feeling there is or was a glitch in their system placing ALL returns filed during a certain time frame into the "mail check" category. Why can't they simply tell us the truth.
