The first time homebuyer credit is not available for 2012 tax returns. The last time the general public could claim the credit was on a 2010 tax return. A military member stationed outside of the United States for at least ninety days between January 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010 may have been able to claim the credit on their 2011 return.
