What are estimated taxes?

Article ID: IAS10158
Estimated tax payments are made to the IRS or state tax authority to cover the tax on income that's not subject to withholding (self-employment income, interest/dividends, capital gains, etc.). TurboTax makes sure you get credit for the estimated tax payments you made the current year, and helps you determine if estimated tax payments for next year are needed.
Your 4 quarterly estimated tax payments are due on or before April 15th, June 15th, September 15th, and January 15th of the following year.
