After you file your tax return, it goes to the IRS with a “pending” status waiting to be reviewed. Next, it is either “accepted” or “rejected.” This process can take 24-48 hours after your return is efiled. You can check your Federal Return status here. When your return is sent in by mail this timeframe varies and you’re not able to track your return.
