Error 9092: We were unable to get information...
Error 9092 occurs when you attempt to update if information about your version of TurboTax cannot be found on your computer:
We were unable to get information about the version of TurboTax you are using, so your download was not successful.
To resolve this error, follow these steps:
Uninstall TurboTax
- Select Start, and then select Control Panel (or select Settings, and then select Control Panel).
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs, select the TurboTax product to remove, and then click Change/Remove.
- Click Yes to confirm removal.
Note: If you have problems uninstalling TurboTax, ensure you have administrator rights on your computer.
If you still can't uninstall TurboTax, follow these steps:
- Save your tax return file to your desktop.
- Right-click Start, and then select Explore.
- Open the Program Files folder, and then the TurboTax folder.
- Right-click the TurboTax installation folder (e.g., Premier 2006) and select Delete.
- Select Yes to confirm deletion.
Reinstall TurboTax
Follow these steps to reinstall TurboTax:
- To install the TurboTax federal product, do one of the following:
- Install the federal product CD.
- Double-click the downloaded product file on your computer.
Note: Be sure to specify an installation folder of 80 characters or fewer.

- To update TurboTax, do one of the following:
- Start TurboTax, and then follow the prompts to download and install updates.
- Select One-click Updates from the Online menu in TurboTax.
- Manually update TurboTax.
- Install the TurboTax update CD.
- To install the state product (if applicable), do one of the following:
- Download/install the state product from your TurboTax program.
Note: You must open a federal return before you can install the state product. - Double-click the downloaded product file on your computer.
Note: You can redownload the product file if necessary. - Install the state CD.

- Open your saved return (if applicable).
