If you prefer to check for updates periodically instead of automatically when you start TurboTax, One-click Updates is a handy option.

Important: If you use a dial-up connection, downloading the update file may take several hours. We recommend ordering the free update CD.

Note: If you use TurboTax Online, we update TurboTax for you.

Follow these steps:

In TurboTax for Windows, on the menu bar at the top of the screen, select Online, and then select One-click Updates. (In TurboTax for Mac, select TurboTax, then select Check for Updates.)
The Update Manager connects to the TurboTax server, and then checks for updates.
If the Update Manager finds updates, it downloads the update file. (If the Update Manager reports you have the latest updates, click Done to return to your TurboTax program.)
To install the updates, the Update Manager must close your TurboTax program. Click Yes to continue.
Click Yes to save your tax data file.
The Update Manager closes your TurboTax program, and then installs the updates.
When the Update Summary window appears, click Launch TurboTax.
