Troubleshoot Updating TurboTax (Mac)

To update your TurboTax software, it must be installed on your computer's hard drive. Do not run TurboTax from the product CD.

Important: If you use a dial-up connection, downloading updates may take several hours. We strongly recommend ordering the free update CD.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot updating TurboTax:

  1. Empty your Trash.
Note: Always empty your Trash before you update.
  2. Check your Internet connection.
  3. Check your router (if you use one).
  4. Accept cookies and pop-up windows.
  5. Temporarily turn off your firewall and virus-detection software.
Important: After updating TurboTax, be sure to turn on your security software.
  6. If you still have problems, use the exact error number and message to search TurboTax Support, and then follow the steps to resolve your issue.
  7. Update your TurboTax program by using Check for Updates or by updating manually.

Note: If you still can't update, order the free update CD.
