Follow these steps to reinstall TurboTax desktop from scratch:

Save your return to your desktop (if applicable). (For procedures, see the Save your return to your desktop section in the Save Your Tax Return article.)
Uninstall TurboTax desktop.
To install the TurboTax federal product, do one of the following:
- Install the federal CD. (See the section Install the Federal CD in Install the Desktop Product CD).
- Download/install the federal product from the web.
  Note: If you saved the downloaded product file on your computer, double-click the file to install the federal program. You do not need to re-download the federal product from the Web.
To update TurboTax, do one of the following:
- Select One-click Updates from the Online menu in TurboTax.
- Apply updates manually:
- Install the TurboTax update CD.
To install the state product (if applicable), do one of the following:
- Download/install the state product from your TurboTax program.
  Note: You must open a federal return before you can install the state product.
- Download/install the state product from the web.
  Note: If you saved the downloaded product file on your computer, double-click the file to install the state program. You do not need to re-download the state product from the Web.
- Install the state CD. (See the section Install the State CD in Install the Desktop Product CD).
Open your saved return (if applicable).
