Error -5009

When you install TurboTax, error -5009 may occur due to a problem with InstallShield.

Solution

Follow these steps:

  1. Rename the InstallShield folder on your computer:
    • Find InstallShield folder on your computer. (The default location is C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield.)
    • Right-click the InstallShield folder and select Rename.

  2. Close all windows and programs.
  3. Install TurboTax.
Still can't install?

Follow these steps:

  1. Restore the original InstallShield folder:
    • Find the InstallSheld folder on your computer.
    • Right-click the InstallShield folder, select Delete, and then confirm deletion.

    • Right-click the InstallShieldOld folder and select Rename.
